Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of our busy season, and we expect 350,000 riders over the holiday weekend. Please prepare for long lines and extended wait times if you are traveling starting Thursday, May 21 through Monday, May 25. On Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, the following routes will have schedule changes: Anacortes/San Juan Islands, Edmonds/Kingston, Point Defiance/Tahlequah, and Port Townsend/Coupeville will have a few holiday schedule changes. Seattle/Bainbridge will run a Saturday schedule. Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth will run the holiday schedule. All other routes will operate regular schedules. Holiday sailings are marked on the schedules for each route. Busy travel times Westbound (or onto an island) Thursday through Saturday, May 21-23 Eastbound (or off island) Saturday through Monday, May 23-25 Online tools To help navigate the crowds, customers are encouraged to use the WSDOT mobile app or visit the WSF website before heading to the terminal. Both feature sailing schedules, live terminal conditions, rider alerts, a real-time map and vehicle reservations.
Due to construction, walk-on passengers at the Bainbridge terminal will load and unload via the car deck on the following dates: Tuesday, May 26 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 27 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 28 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. These closures are needed to repair concrete between the terminal building and the overhead loading ramp. We’ll have additional terminal staff available to help customers navigate loading and unloading through the car deck.

The #1 elevator on the #2 Chimacum is out of service. The M/V Chimacum has two ADA compliant elevators and wide staircases that provide access from both car decks to the passenger and sun decks. There are accessible restrooms on the car deck, main passenger deck and the sun deck. Notify ticket seller if you are traveling by car and need to park near an elevator or car deck restroom. We’re rolling out a new pet policy in time for the busy summer travel season. Starting today, May 20, we will begin a six-week education and transition period to help people learn the new rules before they take effect on July 1. Under the updated policy, pets are allowed in three areas: On vehicle decks In outdoor passenger areas In marked areas inside cabins on the opposite end from the galley Pets are not allowed in the galley or on passenger seating and tables. They also cannot stay inside the cabin on the galley end of the vessel. Pet owners may pass through this restricted area but must take the most direct route and not stop. The passenger elevator on the # 1 Puyallup is out of service. Please ask the crew for assistance if you need the freight elevator. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Updates will be provided as conditions change.

The Alaskan Way #4 Elevator and the Pier 50 elevator (along the front of the building) are both in service and available for customer use.
